The event has seen entry numbers increase steadily year on year, and organisers are excited to announce this year’s race has already seen a record number of runners sign up. Grab a place and set yourself the ultimate fitness goal in 2016 to complete Plymouth’s Half Marathon!
Jamie Warren, from organisers, GO2, said: “We are extremely pleased to announce that there are just 500 standard places remaining for this exciting event, and with the momentum still riding high, there is every possibility that these last few hundred places will sell out fast! Runners can still commit to charity spaces after this date, however we will not be able to accept any more standard or club entries.
“We have extremely high expectations that the race is set to be the most memorable in the Plymouth series yet! This unique opportunity promises to take you on a special journey that will culminate in crossing the finish line on race day, with a sense of achieving something really special in front of this amazing city!”
Now heading into its 23rd year, Plymouth’s Half Marathon is known for its scenic route and friendly atmosphere. The 13.1-mile journey will start and finish at The Hoe, with a course that boasts coastal views, the Barbican harbour and even the stunning National Trust grounds of Saltram Park.

The 5K and 10K running events also took place this morning, with participants setting off at 8.35am and 8.25am. Both experienced and novice runners take part in all three events every year in an amazing display of endurance, training and dedication.
It is an incredible achievement for those who took part in all the races, and a fantastic day out for all who went and cheered on the runners. Ever year, the crowd turn out in droves to inspire and cheer on friends, family, and strangers who take part in these events.
Firstly, I would say to try and find something you are likely to enjoy. This might be walking, swimming or maybe running. There are many websites and apps that provide and promote local activities and ideas.
There was a time in 2019 where I was unable to run due to having surgery on my leg. I was able to resume running in January 2020, provided I took things steady. This is when I downloaded the Couch to 5k app and my road back to running began. At that time, Jo Wiley was my coach, and I was walking more than running, but I was back out enjoying the outdoors again which really helped with my all-round recovery.
