It’s a fantastic achievement for all those who took part
Thousands of people took to the streets of Plymouth this morning (June 19) as half marathon runners raced around the city. Plymouth Britain’s Ocean City running festival opened at 7:15am and the half marathon race commenced at 8:15am.
The popular event sees both experienced and novice runners take part in a gruelling and breath-taking 5k, 10k and half marathon runs around our beautiful city. Despite the slightly grey and overcast weather, the runners gave their all as crowds cheered them on.
It’s been a brilliant morning all round for the event and a fantastic achievement for all those who took part.
Incredible half marathon runners are racing their way around the city in the much-anticipated Britain’s Ocean City half marathon today (June 19). Plymouth Britain’s Ocean City running festival will open from 7:15am and the half marathon race commences at 8:15am.
At 8:25am the 10K race will start, and at 8:35am Plymouth 5K race starts. This year there are also ‘cheering stations’ for spectators.
The weather is looking a little grey and overcast, but we bet competitors are glad the sun is not beating down on them. Dozens of road closures are in place across the city to ensure the safety of all participants, so motorists can use diverted routes.
I started running after taking part in Plymouth’s Race 4 Life back in 2008. Along with raising money for such a good cause, I found I really enjoyed running and have never really stopped since.
I have entered many local races and events over the years, but the London Marathon has always been at the top of my running ‘wish list’.
